Oil Free Coconut Curry Cabbage🥗

Cabbage has been cultivated for thousands of years and it is still a hit in the modern day. There are so many different cultures that incorporate this humble vegetable into their ethnic cuisine including those of the Caribbean Islands, Asia, and India . Cabbage is a fulfilling veggie being that with a single serving you can satisfy at least half of your daily Vitamin C requirement. Additionally, cabbage is sufficient in manganese, iron, and vitamin B6, and fiber. With its high nutritional value and low calories, cabbage is even the ideal food for those watching their weight (depending on how you prepare it).


Today we are swiping an amazing cabbage recipe from The Soulful Veganista! She found a fast and simple way to make an amazing coconut curry cabbage dish and it is breathtaking ! The best part about it ? It is OIL FREE!



Items Needed

  • Measuring Spoons/Cup

  • Non-stick skillet

Coconut Curry Cabbage


Prep: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes


Ingredients

  • Half a head of green cabbage (organic preferably)

  • 1/2 can or 6 ounces of full fat coconut milk

  • 1.5 tsp Jamaican curry powder

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste (optional)

  • 1.5-1 tbsp garlic powder or 1 garlic clove (sliced thin)

  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder or 1 small onion

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • A dash of cayenne pepper

Process

In order to recreate this nutritional curry cabbage, follow these quick and easy steps !  


Step 1: Pour 4 tbsp (2 ounces) of water in a pot and warm your skillet to medium heat and began washing and thoroughly cleansing your cabbage. (be sure to remove all grime and dirt between the cabbage to prevent grit while chewing!)

Step 3: While the water heats, strip the cabbage into small to medium strips depending on your preference.

Step 4: . Once the water is heated appropriately, add the garlic and the onion to it and allow to dissolve for a couple of minutes then add the curry powder and the remaining spices and stir until even and pasty (2-3 minutes).

Step 5:  Turn the heat to low and add the cabbage to the pot. As the cabbage steams down, add 1 ounce of coconut milk at a time (for a total of 6 ounces) until the cabbage becomes slightly translucent.

Step 6: Cover the skillet with a lid and let it continue to steam for 5-10 mins or until the cabbage is completely translucent and fork-tender.

Step 7: Let cool to desired temperature and eat it alongside an awesome ethnic dish. Enjoy!
