Do you ever crave a wonderful milk shake that not only satisfies that creamy ice cream craving, but that is also nutritious for your body ? Well our sister Ashlian of alionessjourney really mastered the concept with this dark chocolate oatmeal shake recipe !The wholesome ingredients of this shake are perfect in that they delivers excellent macros and fiber to your body as needed AND touches your soul with it’s creamy delectable goodness. The best part about it is that you can make it in less than five minutes!
1 small ripe banana
4 pitted medjool dates
1/3 cup steel cut oats
4 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 cup water
1 2/3 cup homemade, unsweetened almond milk
Ground cinnamon (to taste)
Ground nutmeg (to taste)
If you do not have a high speed blender, soak the oats and the dates in the liquid ingredients for 10-15 minutes. This will help to make your shake clump-free. Also, feel free to add more or less liquid depending on how thick you like your shakes. Less liquid will yield a thicker, creamier shake.
Note: If you adjust the amount of liquid, you may need to adjust the other ingredients as well.
Step 1: Add all of the above ingredients to a blender and blend on high speed until smooth.
Step 2: Taste and make any necessary adjustments.
Step 3 (Optional): Get creative and add toppings! Cacao nibs and raw nuts are great if you want an extra crunch while you sip!
